Property Reassessment Information
Lancaster County has completed a reassessment of properties and has sent out updated reassessment values to homeowners. The purpose of the reassessment is not to raise taxes but to ensure fairness of taxes for all taxpayers.
Even if your assessment value of your property may have increased, your taxes may not go up. By Pennsylvania Statute, millage rates (tax rates) must be lowered in a reassessment year. The taxing jurisdictions (i.e. county, municipality and school districts) cannot collect more taxes than they did the previous year because of the reassessment.
Mountville Borough must adjust millage rates for residents, and this will be done toward the end of 2026 during the budget process. As of now, there is no precise way to predict the total tax change for your property until the new millage rate is established for 2027.
As the reassessment is from Lancaster County, please direct any questions you may have on the reassessment to the Lancaster County Assessment office. Their team of professionals can assist you with all your property assessment questions, including preparation, appeals and next steps. Their office is located at 150 North Queen Street, Suite 310, Lancaster PA.
